Question: |
Dear Experts,
What's the rule for wearing jean jackets and jeans? Do
they have to match and do they have to be the same color? I am at a loss
about this.
Thanks,
Hilary

Hilary!
Let's see. This is somewhat of a complicated question because sometimes
mixing jean colors can look really tacky. If you're wearing really dark
bottoms and have a light jean jacket that is semi-ok. If you have all light
on then it's ok..it gives you that vintage look...even if they are dark
sometimes they can be compatible. the best thing is to ask a friend for their
color theory. What's really hip right now is the full matching jean outfit.
Hope that helped,

Hey Hilary,
Basically it is personal preference.
I personally think it is best to buy jeans and jean jackets as a set,
mostly because they will look coordinated. (I'm a matching fool!)
It also depends on what look you are going for. If you want to look
slightly vintage, try two different color jean items with one coordinating
factor -- say, a shirt underneath that incorporates both colors.
Go with your gut instinct on this one. In my hometown, its definately in
to match your jean jackets and jeans. See what people around you are
wearing, and try out whatever feels best for you.
If you have another question, please feel free to e-mail me back. Thanks
for your question.

And, because we all know it's my personal platform, buy some accessories to go with all those killer outfits! But remember to wear your most important accessory - your smile!

Hilary,
I would say that your jeans and your jean jacket should match. Most
jean styles/ colors clash and look bad together. So if your jeans are dark,
wear a dark jacket. If you jeans are in a lighter shade, wear a lighter
jacket that matches:o)
