Winter Blahs? Beat 'em with a Punch of Color!
1/16/01
Has your wardrobe, like mine, been slipping into color hybernation?
Blacks and grays tend to dominate the color scheme in the winter, but their
hues can get old and drab after so many weeks.
How to brighten these colors? If you are strapped for cash, try slipping
in subtle color in everything you already own. Grab a red shirt and slip it
under a black sweater and pants. Or even use a summer tank top under a
cardigan to pump up the color.
If you have about thirty extra dollars, opt to buy one brightly colored
bottom (pants or a long skirt work well.) These items will work well with
plain color shirts. If you buy blue pants, you can wear a blue, white,
black, or striped shirt. The combinations are endless. Just make sure that
the bottoms you select don't have too many details (colored buttons,
hemlines, etc) that may be hard to match.
If you have a few dollars, go for a new shirts that is either a brightly
colored solid shirt or a patterned shirt. These will make you feel as if you
had a wardrobe, but will only cost you a few dollars.
I know the answers sound simple, and they are. Beating the winter blahs
is as easy as buying a few pieces or incorporating old pieces that have
bursts of color.
What color should you buy? It seems as, this year, there is no "color of
the season." Purples and magentas are very "in", and so are shiny reds, but
basically any color goes this season. Take advatage of this season by
wearing every color you own -- it will make you the most colorful girl
around! (and certainly the most fashionable!)
See ya girls next week. Thanks to everyone who keeps visiting. Your
support means a lot! : )
