Holiday Hair!!
12/13/99
So, with the holiday "glam" season quickly approaching, I bet you were all wondering just how to do your hair. (Among the many other things you have to worry about, I'm sure!) Take a hint from the latest styles, and continue to read on - I may solve your problems!
Short hair (pixie cut or boy length)
Part your hair from the far right side. Bobby pin the part under your ears. (You are trying to keep this part flat against your head) Next, use a curling iron on one-inch sections of hair to create a "curly" look. Use hair spray to set the look. (You could also add a few fancy bobbypins to make the look extra special.)
Wet or wash your hair. While moist, use mousse to create a tousled look. (Use about a quarter sized amount and rub through hair quickly) Leave wild or add a sparkly headband.
Wet or wash your hair. While moist, add gel to your hair and brush straight back with a comb. This look is dramatic and formal for such short hair, but it looks great for parties, especially with some shiny hair mascara.
Medium length hair (four inches long to just above shoulders)
You can also try some of the ideas for short hair listed above. However, your extra length gives your extra options!
Try hot rolling your entire head for a pretty, soft look. After rolling, you can try one of the following: 1) put top half of your hair up. Leave the other half loose. Add a pretty hair thing and spray. 2) Add a pretty barrette to your side part. 3)-part hair down the center for a natural look.
Wet or wash hair. Braid large sections of hair. Let dry overnight. In the morning, take out the braids and gel (this leads to a tousled, fun look).
Wet or wash hair. Pin up in curlers and let dry overnight. In the morning, unroll each curl and wrap around your finger (to define the curls) Then you can either: 1) pin up half 2) put in a pretty ponytail 3) or leave down and part.
Long hair (past shoulders)
You can try some of the ideas for medium hair listed above, but you have virtually UNLIMITED options on what you can do with your hair. I'll give you some ideas here girls, but the best way to find a great hairstyle is to experiment.
Pull hair into a low ponytail with your hands. Twist upwards. Pin and curl the top loose pieces (this creates a VERY simple French braid which is still good for dances and holidays).
Hot roller whole head. Part center. Pin two side one-inch pieces to the back of your head. (This creates a "pheasant" girl look.)
Wet or wash hair and pin in curls overnight. In the morning, gel or mousse for a sweet look. For a better look, wind each curl around your fingers to create a defined look.
Good Luck!
