Dear Chako,
As an artist with a line of designer jewelry I 'm naturally
hip. But now
I'm starting to wonder am I too old to wear my fav stuff?
I'm 38 and
watching my friends slowly take the down hill slide to the
woman's
world dept. What do you think about age related hip?

This weekend I'd taken a trip to LA and had definitely
found my answer to
your question. It is never, EVER, too late to be hip. I
must argue,
however, that there is an age apropriateness that goes with
societal
constraints, but you can be hip at whatever age. Your
friends drifting over
to the Women's Department, only means they feel the strains of
these societal
pulls.
YOU, on the other hand, wear what you feel and what
you like which is
so important in your productivity, mood and creativity. May
we even say, you
risk conformity. I say---YOU GO GIRL! Hipness defies age,
not soul. Oh--and
if you ever get the chance--send me a peek at your artwork,
I'd be delighted!
