Still Waiting for the Flood!?
5/21/00
Past all my suspicions, the capri pant is *still* hot for this spring and summer season!
Instead of the bottoms tightening at your calves, the new capris have taken a new twist.
The designs are now slightly flared, bootleg and even flared with six inch slits. Every designer
from DKNY to XOXO has their versions of the capri and all are so comfortable and so unrestricting
as compared to their predecessors from last season!
If you don't want to go out and buy these new
versions, you can simply cuff up your jeans (big single cuffs mind you!) or cut them off at the
shin, get a seam ripper and rip your own slits.
These new capris really complement everyone, even the short girls like me! Some of them are even
long enough to be perfect length pants for the shorter girls that are tired of paying the seamstress
to hem them up. The best thing about capris is that they show off any shoe that you choose to
wear them with and look good with practically any shoe you choose to wear them with. I think a
pair of sleek Puma or Saucony running shoes, in a funky color like lavender or electric blue,
with "dirty" jean flared capris (try Calvin Klein jeans) and a crisp fitted white tank looks fresh.
Three essential colors to get capris in are black, khaki and jean (which are also the three
essential colors to get in any piece of clothing!). I recommend a pair of black stretch flared
capris that you can dress up, dress down, and really shake your boot-tay in which is, of course,
the most important thing! After all summer is coming up, the weather is warming, and pants are too
hot and skirts aren't the best thing to dance in!
