How to FunktaFy Any Outfit
11/16/99
Girrrrrl, where are *your* supafly kix? The madness in
every scene has
always been over a dope pair of sneakers. To funktaFy any
outfit, every hip
cat should floss a pair of seventie's-inspired track shoes.
Not only are
they great for running around downtown, they look good with
dark denim and
your favorite 70's fitted tee. For the new "utility" look of
the year 2000,
these colorful shoes add energy and character. Designers from
the likes of
Saucony to Diesel bring you fabulous colors (my personal
favorite-baby blue)
and styles
(from hi-tech to vintage).
You can find them hi-tech at Lady
Footlocker or
even discount stores like Ross and Marshall's in prices
ranging from $8.99 TO
$150 for every wallet. If you want to be the only cat on your
street to have
a certain pair, brave your local thrift stores for original
pairs (I suggest
throwing them in the wash first!). Try a pair of bright
yellow New Balance
running shoes with a monochrome gray outfit or a pair of
orange Saucony's
with khaki pedal pushers and a black tank top. Track shoes
can go with
virtually anything to freshen up your gear, supastar.

Hi Chako,
I have really skinny legs and to top it up they are bow.The only part of my legs that join are
my feet and ankles.I would like you to pls help me because I feel so uncomfortable wearing
anything short I feel like everybody is staring at my legs.Pls help me.
--Sad girl
Chako's Response:
Hey Sad gurl!!
Honey, your situation can be solved! To avoid accentuating
the shape of
your legs, try *any* type of skirt, especially the sassy
knee-lenth
type---see, your options are open! Baggy cargo pants will
also look
hot---and you can accentuate your upper torso with a fitted
top. Flare pants
are another good option. THINK RETRO-FIED FUNK-GIRL!! Keep
your bottoms
loose, your tops snug and your mind open-- beauty comes in
every shape and
size!
peace,
chako
Question 2:
Dear Chako,
I really like fashion, and I always keep up with the trends,
but it's
hard to find stores in my size with the cool clothes I want.
What stores have cool clothes for kids?
--Kid Kool
Chako's Response:
Hey Kid Kool or Teeny Queeny,
The mall is thee typical joint to carouse for "cool"
clothes..but the
question is: "are you looking for cool clothes AND some
orginality? I highly
suggest browsing your local thrif stores!! They always have a
vast quantity
of kids' clothing with logos that you haven't seen since Bill
Cosby was
ruling the Television set: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,
Spider Man, and
Ghostbusters to name a few.
They also have cool beat up jeans
that you can
funk up with metal studs, paints, and jewels (vintage clothes
run smaller!).
K-mart and Target also have a cheap and chic section for kids
on a budget.
If you pick a plethora of different stores from your mall,
your local
shopping centers, and your thrift stores, you can conjure up a
really funky
wardrobe.
I have one message to put out to you
though...PLEASE do not
support the Gap or any of it's subsidaries---THE GAP HELPS
FUND DEFORESTATION
OF THE REDWOODS IN NORTH WESTERN AMERICA!!! thanks for hearin
me out,
sisstttahhh! yeahhhh---now go hunt!
Peace,
Chako S.
Question 3:
Hi Experts,
My elbows are ugly. They're dry and black.I've tried
everything from
scrubing them to applying lotion but nothing works. So when I
go out,I've
to wear something that would cover my elbows(the same goes
for my
knees)like a cardigan etc.I'd really like to wear something
short
sleeved but don't want to bend my arms all the time. Please
help!

Chako's Response:
Hellllloooo Sarah,
I can think of a few things that you could try for the
situation with your
joints. First, try drinking a lot of water to help moisturize
your
body..it's good fer ya!
Check out your local pharmacy for
body lotions with
Alpha Hydroxy in them to help exfoliate off dead skin. After
soaking in a
bubbly bath, a loofah exfoliating scrub may help, but
excessive scrubbing may
cause them to become more irritated and raw--worsening your
situation.
A
moisture rich body butter in delicious flavors like mango,
almond and coco
(Try the Body Shop's!) can soothe your elbows and knees and
your nose. If
all else fails, book an appointment with your dermatologist,
he may be able
to prescribe something for you. I hope this helped ya out!
Peace,
chako s.
